Certificate attestation is a process of validating the authenticity of certificates and documents for expats in the UAE. These documents/certificates attested by the UAE embassy are regarded as valid for business, employment, higher education, etc. The attested documents are accepted by major business institutions and government departments.
Authentication of your papers can either be done by yourself or you can opt to a service.
Certificate Attestation:
In UAE, you can attest the certificates by following these 2 steps:
Step1: Notary attestation –
- This is generally done at Dubai Courts Notary Public(DCNP). The Notary will verify all the documents and attest it.
- Minimum 2 copies of documents and other supporting documents including valid id/passport are required.
- Once the documents are verified, notary will attest the documents.
Step2: MOFA -Ministry of Foreign Affairs –
The notary verified certificates can be further processed to MOFA for attestation.
- MOFA office is situated in Bur Dubai. Expats in UAE should submit their country documents to the ministry of external affairs(MOFA) and get them stamped.
- The certificates that are approved by the MOFA can be submitted to any of the governing bodies (employer or UAE government) as per your requirement.
- Once the documents are stamped they would be accepted by the UAE government for processing the necessary papers.
- Documents/Certificates can be validated by paying the fee. The fee charged depends on the documents you are willing to attest.
